Ao Phang-Nga National Park was declared a national park on
29April1981. It lies in the districts of phang nga town and
Takua Thung and the total area is 250,000 ml.
Most visitors are intent on viewing Phang Nga bay"s bizarre
landscape which includes more than 120 singularly strange
looking islands.
KOH PANTI: This small island has a picturesque
village, which rest precariously on small pilling and extends out
across the water. It is inhabited chiefly by muslim fisher
folk, whose onique culture has existed, cut off from the main
land and most modren amenities, for more than a hundred years.
KHAO PING GUN: The name means literally mount.it is
really a huge rock split in two the smaller haif has slid down
and the remaining one appears now tobe leaning.Through khao ping
gon is avery small island, one still smaller, khao tapoo or james
bond island, is ina little bay of khao ping gun where visiting
boats pull up.tapoo means nail, and this shoreless rock project
up from the sea as it name implies flat and wide at the top,and
very narrow at waterline. It is a striking sight. The island
became more famous after the jame bond adventure,"the man with
the golden gun"was partly filmed here. |
TAHM LOD: Has beautiful stalagmites and stalactities
KHAO PANAG: A cave with stalagmites and
stalactities, where a small stepped waterfull of regular descent
adds to the beautiful,is the island's salient feature.
KHAO KHIEN: The island of writings is what the name
means, indeed there are ancient depictions of animals and boats,
which the Fine Art is Dept., has dated back noless than 3000
years. Low on the mounyain walls just above the tides line of
this shoreless island, thay were presumably drawn by voyagers
long ago who took refuge there during storm.the island lies on
the way to Koh Panyi.
There are many much more places to discovers, the natural beauty
is most easily seen by boat touring the whole bay area..There
are some lovely cave Tham Pauta Khunthong, Tham Khao Talu Nok -
Nai,Tham Nak, also of interest in Phang - Nga bay National Park
are the mangrove forests and swamps cut by twisting channels,
which line the mainland shores and it is said to be the largest
expanse of healthy mangrove remaining in Thailand. |
