Gaeng Liang Goong
(Herbed Soup with Prawns and Mixed Vegetables)

Ingredients |
1) 5 shallots
2) 1 tablespoon ground peppercorns
3) 1 tablespoon coriander root,chopped.
4) 1 teaspoon salt
5) 1 tablespoon young peppercorn
6) ½ cups dried shrimp, minced.
7) ½ cups fresh shrimp, pulverised
8) ½ cupsprawns, shelled
9) 2 cups sliced string beans, baby corn, spinach
sliced gourd and mushrooms
10) 2 cups sweet basil leaves (bai mang lak)
11) 4 cup water
12) 2 tablespoons fish sauce. |
Preparations |
a) Pound shallots, ground
peppercorns, coriander
root andsalt together until they from a paste.
Then add the dried shrimp
b) Boil water,adding the pounded paste mixture
and the pulverised fresh shrimp. stir well,
Now stir in the sliced vegetables and the
fish sauce
c) Add whole shelled prawns and basil leaves.
d) When the soup becomes dark, stir in the
young peppercorn
e) Serve hot and enjoy. |
