The province's central location has made it an important centre of
communications, transport and commerce over the centuries. King
Naresuan was born here. Its greatest treasure is Phra Phuttha
Chinnarat, one of the most beautiful and beloved Buddha images in
the country, plated with solid gold by King Ekatosarot himself.
Outside the town, there are a number of attractive parks: Chat Trakarn
National Park, Phu Hin Rongkla National Park and Thung Salaeng
